Lovely Lima, Peru

In April, I had the opportunity to visit Lima, Peru. Always a Marriott fan (when I can) I stayed at the AC Hotel in Miraflores. Miraflores is one of the nicer areas of the city and is located on a cliff high above the pacific ocean.

I wasn't able to make it down to the water outside of eating at a restaurant directly on the water, but there were beautiful rocks instead of sand.

I was a bit limited on the exploration since I was there for a work event but I did have an opportunity to do a bit of sightseeing one afternoon/ evening.

Sightseeing

The absolute standout of the entire trip was my visit to the Basilica and Convent of San Francisco.

The outside was undergoing some renovations and was roped off (as you can see) but the entire Cathedral was absolutely jaw-dropping. You were not allowed to take pictures inside which I respected but feel free to do some googling and check out the pictures that others have taken. The interior of the Cathedral was stunning and incredibly intricate. I booked a tour guide through Viator (a half-day private tour) that included private car, a english speaking tour guide, and tickets to all locations on the tour.

Plaza de Armas

For our next stop, we went to the Plaza de Armas which was really neat to see. Alot of the area was roped off due to potential demonstrations, but I did not see anything of concern. The area was beautiful and I felt safe walking around with our guide.

Huaca Pucllana

From the Plaza de Armas we rode over to the Huaca Pucllana which was constructed starting in the 5th century. While the Huaca (as the locals call it) is not as well known as Machu Picchu it was absolutely incredible.

The Huaca was incredible. It was really neat to see every individual brick.

Lima was absolutely incredible and I would not hesitate to go back. I'm a big fan of Pisco Sours, so if you make it to Peru, make sure to try one.
